Steel Industry Process Control Systems
Pennies saved during daily steel production cycles result in hundreds of thousands of dollars by year-end. Our billet
weighing, roll force measurement, ladle crane, and tundish weighing systems save more than money; they reduce
scrap while extending equipment life and service time. We control all vital mill functions with precision accuracy to give
you the best production runs possible.

Roll Force Measurement (RFS-4)
RFS-4 Roll Force Systems are uniquely designed for retrofitting older mills not equipped with force measuring systems
and mills with aging load cell based systems. Extensometer kits weld directly to existing posts so no mill modification is required. Extensometers on both the work and
drive sides of the mill enable the user to achieve a balanced force at all times. RFS-3 instrumentation provides vital status/alarm indication and work/drive force output signals.
Billet Weighing
Typical caster torches cut all billets to a given length. Cutting to length, however, results in large variances in actual billet weight. Rolling mills roll by weight rather than length.
Overweight billets leave rolling mill customers with extra “scrap” steel, which has to be returned and remelted. Cutting by weight, rather than length, resolves the scrap/remelt
problem.
