Director, Global Marketing Communications,
MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA — March 31, 2003 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (VSH: NYSE) today announced that it has extended the resistance range of the RNC90Z
family of military established reliability foil resistors up to 121 KΩ with a very low TCR of 2.0 ppm/°C, a value 2.5 times better than provided by the RNC90Y.
As "R" level established reliability resistors, RNC90Z
resistors are military-qualified to MIL-PRF-55182/9 with characteristic "Z" limits. The new resistors are designed for use in military and aerospace applications and in other applications requiring established reliability and precision performance.
The Vishay Foil Resistors RNC90Z
resistor series, which is based on Vishay's technologically advanced, ultra-precision, low-TCR "Z" Bulk Metal® foil, serves as a direct replacement for the RNC90Y series, which has long been the benchmark for discrete established reliability resistors. The devices released today offer a similarly priced alternative to the RNC90Y, now with a broad resistance range of 100 Ω to 121 KΩ, in addition to standard resistance tolerances from ±1.0% down to ±0.01% and very low TCR values over an extended temperature range of -55°C to +175°C.
The devices' power rating is 0.6 W at +70°C and 0.3 W at +125°C, with a maximum working voltage of 300 V. Each resistor measures 0.105 in. by 0.300 in. (2.67 mm by 7.62 mm), with a height of 0.326 in. (8.28 mm), and typically weighs 0.6 grams.
Samples and production quantities of the extended-range RNC90Z
resistors are available now. Lead time for production quantities is approximately 12 weeks.
