Three Different Workshops and Short Courses Offered to Train Customers in the Proper Use of Strain Measurement Techniques
MALVERN, Pa. — Feb. 12, 2015 — Vishay Precision Group, Inc. (NYSE: VPG) today announced its Micro-Measurements division’s U.S. training session schedule for the first half of 2015. Held at VPG’s Micro-Measurements facilities in Raleigh, NC, and other locations across the U.S., the three different workshops and short courses offered by the company are designed to train customers in the proper use of strain measurement techniques.
The Micro-Measurements programs provide excellent hands-on training for those who use, plan, supervise, or instruct others in stress analysis techniques. In addition, VPG’s short courses combine additional visual aids and demonstrations to allow for wide coverage of the subject with added depth in key areas.
Workshops and short courses being conducted in the first half of 2015 include the Strain Gage (Gauge) Technology Workshop (course number W62), Strain Gage (Gauge) Workshop (course number W65), and the Strain Measuring Systems Short Course (course number SC300). Continuing Education Units (CEU's) are awarded for the successful completion of each stress analysis training course.
U.S. Training Schedule:
The Strain Gage (Gauge) Workshop is a hands-on program where each participant completes three gage installations using materials selected for suitability in a majority of test environments. The workshop is intended to develop proficiency in strain gage (gauge) selection and installation.
In addition to the strain gage (gauge) installation topics covered in the W65 program, the Strain Gage (Gauge) Technology Workshop includes a review of instrumentation. Workshop participants will make several complete strain gage (gauge) installations, including electrical connections, check-out, and environmental protection; and use appropriate readout instrumentation to verify results of their own installations.
The Strain Measuring Systems Short Course reviews stress analysis principles and methods of locating stress concentrations in a complex strain field using modern optical techniques. Performance characteristics of the strain gage (gauge) and selection criteria are covered, in addition to several laboratory projects in which strain gages (gauges) are bonded, electrical connections completed, environmental protection applied, and installation integrity verified.
