VPG's AUR Series Resistors for Audiophile Applications Featured on EDN's List of Hot 100 Products for 2014
MALVERN, Pa. — Jan. 22, 2015 — Vishay Precision Group, Inc. (NYSE: VPG) today announced that its Vishay Foil Resistors product line's (VFR) AUR series of through-hole Bulk Metal® Foil resistors has been featured in EDN's prestigious list of Hot 100 Products of 2014, which highlights the electronics industry's most significant products of the year based on innovation, significance, usefulness, and popularity. Earning a spot in the Components category, the AUR series is one of the few products on this year's list dedicated to high-end audiophile applications.

Through-hole Z-Foil Bulk Metal Foil resistors in the AUR series provide low-noise and low inductance/capacitance for audio applications requiring distortion-free performance. The conformally coated, low-profile devices offer a TCR down to 0.05 ppm/°C nominal from 0°C to +60°C, tolerances down to ±0.01%, and load-life stability to ±0.01% after 2000 hours at +70°C. Current noise is specified below 0.010 µVRMS/V of applied voltage (< –40 dB).
The cold-rolled metal alloy foil used in the Bulk Metal Foil resistors reduces current noise in the element itself and provides the linearity that preserves signal integrity with no clipping or roll-off at signal extremes. AUR devices also feature a special "noise-free" design, with special in-house stabilization, providing an additional dimension for reducing signal distortion and increasing clarity in signal processing.
AUR series resistors offer a resistance range from 5 Ω to 120 kΩ. Any conceivable ohmic value within this range, to six digits, is available with no additional cost or lead time. The devices feature rated power of 300 mW at +70°C, a maximum working voltage of 300 V, and a thermal stabilization time of < 1 s (within 10 ppm of steady state value).
